Father and Son Birthdays

On December 3rd we were invited to "Liam's Clubhouse" for his 1st birthday party!!
Everyone had a good time playing in the ball pit,
eating balloons,
and just hanging out - looking cool...
before it was CAKE TIME!
While the cake WAS good, Liam didn't see much need for eating it.
That evening, all of the baby boys went to bed on time and Emily got to stay up late for dinner...
and dessert! She actually got to stay up waaay later than that and hung out while the adults played games. I enjoyed the time with everyone and failed to get Emily to bed anywhere CLOSE to a reasonable bed time. It was late. It was almost the next day. Okay, so by the time she fell asleep it WAS the next day. LATE.
But, even with a late bedtime came an early wake up and a dip in the pool with Papa. It was freezing (or within a few degrees of "freezing") and drizzly!
And after Everett's morning nap we were on our way back to Uncle Ryan and Auntie J's house for Uncle Ryan's surprise party!! (We are currently transitioning to "Auntie J" from Aunt Jackie.) We were there plenty early and had some time to play around...

before he came home and we SURPRISED him!
then it was lunch,
and more play...
before CAKE!
Emily was OVERLY happy to help clean the candles...
and then sat down with Uncle Ryan for a chat.
By this time it was almost 3 o'clock and Emily had been begging for cake for hours. She was SO close to finally getting it when all of the wheels came off. Like really really. Let's remember that she hadn't even had what would be considered a "good night's sleep" for an ADULT and was without a nap that day as well. She had eaten her lunch before we even went to the party (hours before) and was such a mess that she couldn't even eat cake. I poured her into the car and headed out. Thankfully, Auntie J packed us some cake to go and Emily was able to celebrate that evening... after a nap. :)

  3. That was a heck of a birthday weekend! I always say it's a "fun tired" when I'm pooped but had lots of fun getting there! Poor Emily skidded right past the fun phase into "why are you torturing me?!?!?" (at full volume) It was sorta like the bell in a boxing ring signaling THE END!

  6. What wonderful birthday celebrations for Cousin Liam and Uncle Ryan. So cool that Emily got to stay up late with the adults although it looks like Mommy regretted it the next day. Hee, hee!
