A Deterrent?

I am not so sure this is going to change Emily's mindset about our bedding and deter her from playing in them any chance she gets.

Both Sides

Emily isn't the type of kid you could call inactive - she always plays hard. 

But, she also appreciates a little pampering.

The perfect balance.

Jumping Bean

Ever since Emily mastered jumping she does it ALL of the time!  She really likes to jump off of things or just jump for the sake of jumping.  But when we were at Mimi and Papa's she was even jumping up to this step in their garage.  She jumped up and landed on both feet at the same time - I was a little surprised she could do it.  Anyway, we were playing in her room on Monday and she was jumping every time she would tell me about a shape on her puzzle.  I ran the camera to catch it.  (I thought I was out of the picture but unfortunately for me... no.)

Not Home Yet

After the graduation celebration and painting party Emily and I headed to Mimi and Papa's for our last visit before the BIG move... Emily was in HEAVEN.
Of course there were some "chores" to do...
towers to build...

and birds to watch.

Emily was really into the whole "bird" idea in general.

She also LOVED the fact that her binky and lovey were kept on my bed when she was awake so at any time she could go in, climb up, and have a little "binky time."

She took FULL advantage.

Then, on Monday night Emily requested to eat her dinner alfresco. Doesn't alfresco sound cool (temp wise) to you? Well, it wasn't.

It was 92 degrees and about 90% humidity. Mimi and I were melting but Emily was happy...

and chose to stay outside even after dinner. Sigh

Soon we knew why it was so humid...

and within 20 minutes of dinner the temp dropped 20 degrees and it started to thunder, rain and even hail!  

Emily wasn't so thrilled at first...

but REALLY warmed up to the idea before too long.

Papa came home right as the storm was calming down and they had a little drizzly swim together.

On Tuesday we were headed home again - too sad to think about how long it will be until we are back. Emily had so much fun!

Drive Time

Well, I told you that I would expand more on Daddy's play day last weekend.  For Christmas he was given the gift of "horse power"- one of his favorite things.  He was to spend a day driving four different exotic sports cars known for their luxury and speed.  When he arrived at the "starting line" they were lined up like this... 

with their engines exposed for the full ooh and ahh factor.  

He started his drive in the Porsche 911 Cabriolet...

apparently it was pretty fast.  ;)

Next was the Audi R8 - his FAVORITE!

It had a good reminder as to why he should not buy one!

Third was the Maserati Quattroporte...

and last, the Ferrari F430.

The horse power on these four cars is more than 1,800 and the tour was deemed "the best gift EVER" by master car guy, Paul.  Emily and I will have to hang our hat on that for a while because he is impossible to shop for.  This may be the only time we get such a rave review for a gift!!

We are so glad he liked it and that he came back in one piece!!

First Things First

We all know that I like order and therefore always post chronologically.  BUT, this time I am abandoning posts that should come first to share what happened yesterday.

Our morning started out just great.  We met some friends at 9:30AM for a little of this.

But, unfortunately by 10 o'clock this...

led to a LOT of inconsolable crying and a quick exit to seek medical attention (thank you to our friends for trying to help and even tying my shoes for me while I held Emily).  After much crying and adrenaline rushing, Emily was sound asleep...

and we waited to see him. (picture from 1 year visit)

That visit led to more wailing and Emily and I were soon off to this place...

for some of these.   (These were NOT pleasant.)

Then we were asked to wait a few minutes to make sure the films were all good...

and they weren't so we had to go back in for one more of these.

After finally leaving there we found some of this (food) in the car from Daddy who ran home before returning to work...

and shoved some in before going back to see Dr. R again.  We had to wait in an exam room for a little bit before finding out the results of the x-rays.

We were then told that the x-rays were negative and were sent here...

to pick them up and take them to him.

This cPNP (certified pediatric nurse practitioner - working under an orthopedist) named Paul was very sweet to Emily and explained what he thought the problem might be.  After reviewing everything he was going to do, he began to examine Emily.  She was laughing and talking to him... he definitely fits well in pediatrics.  He saved the best (read: absolute worst and some SERIOUS pain) for last.  After some loud cries, screams, and a small pop he crossed his fingers that all was better and left the room to give Emily some space for 5 minutes before coming back in to check if her pain/problem was resolved.  Within a minute of him leaving the room (REALLY, within ONE minute) Emily was doing these types of things with her left arm.

It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon and she hadn't moved it since 10 in the morning.

It was UNREAL and I was VERY thankful to have my little happy girl back twirling around the exam room yelling, "woo hoo, woo hoo."  Turns out she had "nursemaid's elbow," a dislocation of the elbow joint, and once he popped her radius back in position she was 100% better.   It was a long and sweaty day but ended well so that is all that matters.
