Weekend in Granbury

We made it out to Nana and Grandpa's house just in time for nap on Friday and after nap we went out to have a test run behind Grandpa's bike... it didn't go over very well.

So instead we traded the bike for his "grocery cart" (anything with the last name cart must have the first name grocery in Emily's book)... and went to the park.

On Saturday morning, since the bike ride was out, we went in to Granbury Town Square and walked around.

Then, after nap, Grandpa drove Emily around in the wagon behind his tractor. Emily obliged for a little while...

but ditched that adventure for collecting pecans in the front yard.

(She even ate several, rubbing her tummy and exclaiming that they were YUMMY!)

Emily ate dinner solo that evening but didn't sit alone - although there wasn't very much conversation going on.

On Sunday morning we went out again, this time to the Dinosaur State Park! We passed a museum just a mile from the park entrance that had us remarking about it's interesting location.

Thankfully there were two fiberglass dinosaurs on the way in because otherwise we might have had a hard time convincing Emily that there was anything dinosaur about the state park. Emily loved seeing them up close.

But with a 4AM wake up (thank you time change - grumble), she felt the need to take a few moments to be by herself...

before getting back to it.

Finally, we dragged her away to see the dinosaur tracks. Our first stop was the "watering hole"...

and while Grandpa searched out the tracks Emily sat down for a picnic lunch. It was the perfect spot for her to keep watch and report any dinosaur sightings (she thought that they would swim by).

When Nana wandered away from the picnic to look at the tracks Emily was yelling, "Nana, come back and sit on the rock to see the dinosaurs!"

Nana thought that was good advice and when she returned...

I was able to go see the tracks.

Then, we were off to the next spot where Emily continued to keep her eyes peeled for dinosaurs, finally deciding that they must have been sleeping.
