Birthday Dinner Fun

On Saturday (June 9th) evening, we met some friends at the mall for a very special birthday dinner!  As soon as we arrived, Emily was walking around the mall yelling, "Emory!  Are you here?!"  We assured her that we would find them after returning a couple of things, and much to our surprise we found them in a store along the way!  So, the two girls excitedly led the way to dinner (hand in hand most of the way).
Everyone was excited for a fun evening.
We hadn't been to Farrell's as a family.  I think I went as a kid once but Paul, Emily, and Everett had no idea what was in store for them.  Needless to say, Emily was very interested in everything going on right away.
How could she not??   After all, there are bells ringing, people singing, and mountains of ice cream with fireworks inside!

The two little girls were having a blast before we even sat down - they were like kids in a candy store!
Everett, on the other hand, was content to just watch everything going on.
(He probably would have loved to walk around the place but wasn't given the opportunity.)
When we were taken to our table, Emily received a special birthday sticker which she thanked the lady for...
and then discussed the dinner options with Emory.
Emily and Everett BOTH got birthday presents - what a treat!  Mr. Chill loved checking out his Mickey plate...
while the balloon man made Emory a diamond tiara.
The balloon man was quite fascinating to watch,
but he didn't stop Everett from eating.  What can?
But, while Emily didn't have any food to eat, she wouldn't have anyway... she was concentrating on her balloon creation...
 a matching tiara!
Mr. Chill...
and his elephant!
James and his silly doggie
The princesses
I thought it was very cute, Emily said she wanted to get up and let Everett see her tiara.
He was happy she did, but then he wanted his elephant to go on his head too!
After our dinner, we enjoyed singing Happy Birthday to some other diners.  Emily especially loved clapping and banging the table for the one to the tune of "We Will Rock You."

But, when the crowd gathered around us, the singing began, and they wanted her to stand on the chair... she got a little overwhelmed and sought safety in Daddy's arms.
She was much happier when the attention was off of us and she could focus on defending her candle flame from Daddy...
 and enjoying her birthday sundae.
(Instead of ice cream, Everett got a turn with the "hat.")
At the end of our super fun dinner, we bid farewell to the "Rat Pack" (affectionate nickname for Jeromy, Holly, Emory, and James) and tried to do a little shopping in the mall.  But, much to our horror,
it was all closed up at 7:30!!!!
So, off we went to the car, with lots of goodies, fun memories, and only one sock.
And, because the mall was closed and virtually empty... we had the chance to run off some of the sugar and excitement!

What a fun start to Emily's 4th birthday celebrations!!

  3. What a fun kick off to your fourth birthday celebrations, Emily! I love Farrell's, too! I have such fond memories of that place as a kid. They used to have this enormous drum at the one we went to and my little brother used to hide under the table when they beat it during the birthday song. Hee, hee!
