Zoo + Party = FUN!

On the morning of January 29th we set off for a day of fun, beginning with the San Diego Zoo! We took the bus along for this trip...

and Everett rode in the back but NOT in the carrier for the first time!
Just inside the gates, Emily made a new friend...

and then we explored as a family.



It was chilly when we arrived, but mostly just in the shade. However, Emily had no interest in removing ANY of her layers... not matter how many times I asked.

At least the glove came in handy when she was up close to something a little stinky.
The last animals we were able to see were the polar bears.
Good thing, because their area provided much entertainment for Emily.



Then, on our way out, we found a short cut to the front of the zoo!



It took us high above the treetops and right to the exit!
Good thing too, because we had a 1st birthday party to get to! Lina, it's hard to believe, was turning one and celebrating with a safari themed party.
Emily spent most of the time playing with a little boy named Sawyer and some bubble favors.

Lina just watched.

No surprise, when it was time for cake, Emily and Sawyer were in the front row!
I got a quick pic of Devon, Carly, and Lina (cute!)...
before we sang Happy Birthday...
and Carly cut the cake.
She was quite generous with her slices and Emily was happy to devour the yummy chocolate cake (with peanut butter filling) - with a little help from Mama and Daddy.
Lina seemed to enjoy her piece as well.
