Although this is not Emily's FIRST Christmas it is the first time she is enjoying the Christmas-y things around her. She is allowed to touch most of the decor but there are, of course, those few breakable things that I ask her to leave alone. Emily has a bit of a hard time NOT touching those - but does a pretty good job.
As far as the tree goes, she is not supposed to touch the glass balls. What she does instead is walk around the tree saying, "Emmy," (over and over) as she sees her reflection in each one. She also likes to push the button to turn on the lights but then promptly wants to turn them off.
She spends a lot of time with her Little People nativity. She knows all of the animals, the wise men, Daddy Joseph, Mama Mary,

and likes to give Baby Jesus kisses...
It NEVER stays set up like this for very long!
Emily also likes to play with many of the other nativities that I have around the family room but the main nativity that she is NOT supposed to touch is my porcelain one in the fireplace. The ottoman helps deter her but she has found ways around it.
Christmas deliveries are a big hit too - boxes!

Today we started playing some Christmas music and Emily is a fan...
(In this video you were twirling around - your favorite after all - singing lalala, and at the end I ask you to kiss the camera which you do. You also leave some steam on the lens... cute)
as a responsible parent (I try to be) I had to change my position and block the TV cabinet. I bet Mimi had a heart attack while watching Emily "Fall"-la-la-la-la toward the corner! :)
Yes, I flinched as she went careening toward that cabinet! Wish I had as much energy! That nativity is pretty elaborate and invites very close inspection, I'm amazed at her restraint!

Boy Emily...just watching you made me dizzy. Wish I had your energy!!!
ReplyDeleteI flinched a little too.:)
My head is spinning...thanks for the smooch, though!
ReplyDeleteWow, Noah JUST got a Little People Nativity set TODAY from Mimi and Pop-Pop! He LOVES it and pushed the angel on top to hear "Away in a Manger" about 700 times this afternoon. It looks like Emily is enjoying hers as well. I adore the video and got very dizzy watching Emily spin to the music. Enjoy your first real Chrsitmas, Emily Rose!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great video -- I can't beleive she stayed on her feet as long as she did after all that spinning. Even better was that she got up and kept doing it again!
ReplyDeleteThat was so adorable...all that spinning! I have to admit I flinched a few times during the video. I love how into all the decorations and baby Jesus Emily is. That will make this a really special holiday for you all.
ReplyDeleteJill loves the Little People nativity too! I set it back up at least five times a day. And Jane's new favorite song is, 'Away in a manger" so that little button on top gets hit oh... 500 times a day. I love it!
ReplyDeleteNicolas was CRACKING UP every time Emily fell down!! And after the first time, little Eddie made me play it again. They were in awe of the sweet little dizzy angel. :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute! They should 'so you think you can dance' for kids! Did you order the navity on line or find it in a store- we have looked with no luck.
