Away We Go

June 29, 2005 we bought our first home.
June 19, 2010 we left that home behind.

With everything packed up we were westward bound...

pulling out of the driveway one last time.
Colored beads (black and white for the car colors) were drawn as a way to select who would ride in each car - we drew twice each day.  The only person who didn't move?  Emily of course.
The following are some pictures of our first day on the road...
Lunch at Subway in ???? TX.
A restroom break where there was much work to be done...
wearing out Emily being a VERY important job.

(Let me take this moment to tell you about the two grandmas along for the trip.  They each had their own rules about what could be photographed... so pretend like they look like this in each picture.)
Emily was all smiles for the trip.
She played games on my phone,
tasted a Blizzard for the first time,
took some allergy meds,
and protected her baby blues from all of the sun.

We were headed to Big Bend and once we started getting close, pictures of the scenery were quite popular.  Here are a few...

Finally, after 11 hours on the road we pulled into Lajitas, TX and our hotel - Lajitas Golf Resort and Spa.

(Emily was THRILLED to be free!)

Everyone was pretty happy to have the first day under our belt... and happy that it was such a good day of travel!

We celebrated with a nice meal...
and Emily did some exploring.
(Wouldn't you know it that she would find the one and only ladybug!)
Then we were headed to our rooms for the night...
where we had great service...
and plenty of room to spread out!

  3. Wow, Big Bend is the glorious! I bet you are glad that you saw it before you left Texas. Can't wait to see what else happened on your trip. I almost forgot that this was only day one! Oh I love that you pulled beads to see who drove in which car. Hee, hee!

  4. I enjoyed the post --- and I was there!!!! Thank you for respecting my wish (at least in that one picture) to not show my face. I laughed out loud...My complaint is that Meg and I never did receive a tip for our great service! The only thing you missed was how unbearably hot it was in Lajitas. I think it should be renamed!!!
