Wrong! (<---in regards to the end of the last post) So much for her sleeping for a while. Emily was awake at 3:38 PST. Yes, AM! It was early! But, I got up with her and decided we would just go about our day on central time since we were flying home that afternoon anyway.
Unfortunately, at about 8:30 that morning we found out that the house we loved was not available anymore and we would have to go out looking again. So we had to wake Emily from her nap and head out at about 12:30 that afternoon. Emily was not ready for the light and asked for her sunglasses... really.
We went out and saw two more houses... one of which we had driven past on Sunday but weren't allowed to go in (Monday was the first day it was available to show) and then were off to the airport.
Emily had a great time playing on the chairs as we waited for our flight...
and had a pretty sweet set up on the way home too. (No, she didn't sleep at all.)
At one point she wanted to hold me but since I didn't want to get her out of her chair I leaned in and that satisfied her - it was an interesting landing.
So... by the time we got home it was 10:30 CST which means Emily had a 17 hour day with a two hour nap. This also means that Tuesday was a loooong day.
In related news... we signed the lease for our new home last Friday. The family that built the house is moving to England on a 3 year work contract and we get the house June 14th. It has 4 bedrooms with a bonus room or 5th bedroom, and a lovely back patio. All of this means... we have plenty of room for guests whether you be "local" and avoiding a drive home, or from out of state. Can't beat the overnight rate so come on down/up/over!

Wow that was a whirlwind trip! Congrats on sealing the deal on such a great place! If we are ever in CA, we will definitely stay with you. :) Isn't it so much fun to travel with a toddler?? Sounds like she did pretty darn good though. And of course she is cuter than ever!
ReplyDeleteThe house looks beautiful! Can't wait until we can have sleepovers!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I'm sure it brings some relief to be able to cross that off your list. Love the landing photo!
ReplyDeleteTricia
Woo hoo! I'll be in LA July 29th through Aug. 3rd, by the way :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and...sunglass indoors? A girl after my own heart, yet again!
I love the house - and I'm so glad that you found one! I know it's a big relief! Emily was such a trooper on your trip! And in regards to Emily's reaction when you first got her on the airplane, Elizabeth did the exact same thing at her age! She had been on the plane lots of times since my parents were living in KS at the time - so who knows why that trip she did not want to do it?!
ReplyDeleteCongrats - can't wait to hear all about the house.
Yea!! I know that must be a big relief and you have a set date and place to move all your stuff to. Emily was definitely a trooper!
ReplyDeleteHooray! I'm so glad you found a house. I might be one of the only blog followers to be happy about your move. To echo Jenn's comment, can't wait for the sleepovers with Emily and the boys (hee, hee)! Good luck with the next month and let us know if there is anything we can do to help...
ReplyDeleteWOW! That certainly was a whirlwind two days. I am really glad you found a house that you like! And even more glad that it has so much room! Maybe sometime in the future we can make a trip out to visit. I love the pic of Emily holding you- so sweet!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you found a house-yay! I'm sure that is such a relief. Looks so nice from the outside,I"m sure it's even better on the inside. Yes, that's awesome that Emily did so well, incredible really. Kids are such troopers. We'll have to get together now that you're back in town...need to get all of the Allison and Emily time that I can!
ReplyDeleteWell Emily didn't get her energy level from mimi, that's for sure!! I guess seat backs and tray tables up doesn't include mama heads!?!?! Or were you asleep?
ReplyDeleteEmily, what a little trooper you are! You are a better traveler than me at 35! and what a sweet, sweet mommy you have to get up so early and feed you! You new house sounds nice and roomy... maybe for a little brother. You can name Dallas, so you will always remember your roots!
ReplyDeletePhew! You have a place and Emily did a fantastic job awake or asleep! Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteLove, Aunt Carolyn
Can't wait to be your house guest!!
ReplyDeleteLove you lots!! xoxoxoxox
