Making Friends

In case anyone is keeping track, we have just reached the 3 month mark.  We moved to CA 3 months ago now!  Wow!  I have recently been in touch with my local MOMS Club and today Emily and I went to our first event - a playdate in the park.  Jennifer, the VP of membership, told me that our group is 40 moms and growing and that the "greeter" for today's playdate was their past President, Lisa.  Jennifer was sorry she had to back out last minute (her oldest has a fever) but asked me to say "hi" to Lisa for her.  It all sounded pretty good... right?!
So, we arrived at a new (to us) great park at 11AM.  Emily preferred the BIG kid area...

(Do these stairs make anyone else think of Swiss Family Robinson?)

but also spent some time in the area designed for her age.

Have you noticed the overwhelming amount of kids at the park?!  It was hard to get a shot of Emily with so many running around!!  What?  You don't see ANY other kids?  What about these two?
They weren't part of the MOMS group and although they were very nice to Emily their mom and I had a bit of a language barrier.  BUT at 11:30 I saw a car pull up and had high hopes of seeing the greeter, Lisa, emerge!  Better late than never!!  Not so much.
So, folks, there you have it.  Another MAJOR bomb for me.  Not a single other person showed up during the hour that we were there.
Once home and preparing my lunch, I opened the sour cream and found this note...
Thanks A LOT Daisy!

  6. 40 members and growing, and no one showed? What is wrong with these people? Well, it didn't stop Emily from having fun. She is all pro at the playground!

  8. First of all, maybe you need to get on beach time, did you wait until 1pm? Maybe everyone's laid back in Cali and 11 really means whenever. I met one of my closest friends in Wichita in the grocery store so keep the faith and keep shopping.

  11. Sarah has a point, Rosie! Maybe you should call the Target Underpants Lady!! There has to be SOMEONE in the OC with a thread of common courtesy!

  12. Awww! I am so sad for you, Allison. Who needs those MOMS anyways. Keep your chin up...the best friends are those we make by accident.
