Holy Saturday!

On Saturday morning we grabbed our breakfast and walked over to eat on the water.

It was a beautiful morning -
and our walk was pretty short. (Our hotel is two-toned, u shaped, and looks like it is under the crane - which it wasn't.)
Once Emily finished her breakfast, she was able to get out and run around.
Everett wasn't finished as quickly - perhaps because he was having so much fun talking to the pigeon.
The grass was pretty damp so Emily moved to higher/dryer ground after a short time...
and Everett joined her there.
She mainly ran back and forth along the low wall singing (princess songs) at the top of her lungs...

before moving over to the "fence" along the water...
where she found a "periscope" to yell into.

Everett, not wanting to be left out, yelled as well...
and was only a little embarrassed that I photographed it.
There were a lot of people out for their morning runs and one nice man spent a long time warming up and stretching right next to us. Emily talked to him a little and watched carefully...
before high skipping to warm up just like him.

After a while we decided to pack up and walk back to Yerba Buena Gardens to find the children's "play circle." There were a lot of fun things to do there but Emily's favorite was this REALLY tall slide. (the really tall slide is actually on the back side - about 2 stories up)

On her first trip down, Emily got turned a little and almost flew off the end of the slide since it was SO slick and quick!
But, she didn't care. She went right back up, passed the lower slide,
and followed our suggestion to concentrate on sitting up on her bottom.
Everett didn't get to enjoy the slides, but did enjoy watching all of the kids.
Once Emily slid a hundred times and climbed all over the climbing equipment, we went over to the carousel. The man running it was very entertaining during the waiting period between rides.

Emily had two rides...

before we went back to the hotel for a nap. This time, Everett did nap and Emily did not - but she had a great time just playing with her princesses in her room with Daddy. Then, when Everett was awake we went to meet Aunt Mo at Ocean Beach. Before our arrival we tried to explain to Emily that this was NOT a beach for swimming. Not only was it pretty cool outside, and the water FREEZING, but the currents up at the tip of San Francisco are treacherous.


We mainly just walked around, talked, and enjoyed the beautiful day. Ocean Beach is known for being super cold, but we scored in that department and were actually a little overdressed.
We left Emily bundled though because she didn't mind and we didn't want to carry it all.
It is a great place to run around...
and be chased.

What a wonderful afternoon!
Then, since Everett had such a sleep deficit we chose to return to the hotel and order in dinner for us so that he could get to sleep at a decent hour. Emily, who had had a GREAT day was treated to a movie and dessert in bed.
I asked Daddy to roll his eyes...
but the truth is - sometimes it's really fun to do things totally out of the ordinary because you know it will SO delight your kids!! :)
