I'm a Mall Walker

Yes, you read that right.  I AM a mall walker - I say this with much pride.  Who knows why I thought of it, but last week I decided that instead of sitting inside because it is too darn cold to go out walking I would go walking - indoors!  I mean, once I get moving outside I am okay, but poor Emily just has to ride along freezing her tail off.  She likes the mall much better.

There are plenty of things to look at and people to talk to - it really is its own culture!  Yes, I am 40+ years younger than my fellow walkers but I can really appreciate what they have going.  It is so fun to watch them wave to each other as they pass - while walking along a very exact perimeter path - and then gather in the food court to chat and sip coffee.  Emily and I have our own special friend, his name is Charlie - he is the social butterfly and talks to every vendor as they set up shop.  He seems to like the ladies the best and of course, adores Emily.  Especially when she says, "hi Cha-y,"  "bye bye Cha-y" and blows him a kiss.

Emily likes that she has her very own playground there - really she is all alone to run, climb, and slide.  (Plus, I figure this is the cleanest the playground will ever be so we might as well take advantage.)

She also likes to check on the fishies, cars, (how is it "smart" to drive a car barely bigger than a stroller?!)

and fountains complete with bubbles.

Of course there are other perks too!

(might look a little different without this guy)

So there you have it!  I will be hosting my next playdate at the mall playground.  Come one, come all!  The only problem... you have to be there at 8.  :)

  1. Good for you! If I had a mall closer than 35 miles away, I too, would be a mall walker. Great idea to have the playground all to yourself!! Plus, it's warmer there. :)

  2. This is too funny! We do the same thing, just much later... We just discovered that playground right before Christmas, and I was like, where has this been? I clearly was not paying attention! Looking forward to Boomerang's!!

  3. Oooo - you were brave enough to sit in Santa's chair!!! (I'm thinking you might have asked someone since you got in a picture too! :) We might just have to join you some morning...but I don't know if I could be out and ready by 8!

  5. Good idea! So funny that there's this whole culture at the mall that we never see when we go shopping.

  6. I can't believe it has been over a year since we sat our barefoot baby down with Santa. This is one of those habits that is going to cost us in the end. I am sure Emily is already memorizing the stores locations and future items she would like to buy...hopefully she is a sale hunter like her mom.

  7. Well that's not much of a confession. Let's hear a real juicy one now. LOL! Very cool though- might as well go to the mall when it's like 15 degrees outside- jeez I thought I lived in Texas!

  8. Love the ponytail! A playground all to herself, how cool is that!? Once you got into the coupe I'm not so sure Emily liked it, kind of a tight fit. How did you ever get in or out? With my knees and hips I would've had to have someone get the "jaws of life!" to get me out.

  9. Totally cool that you and Mama are mall walkers, Emily! I confess that I used to do this in the evenings with one of my girlfriends during the winter because we needed a safe and warm place to walk at night. I'm sure you get a more interesting crowd during the day.

Oh and the Cozy coupe photo with Mama is hiliarious! Doesn't look like you enjoyed sharing your sit with her. Hee, hee!
