The Party's Over

Well, everything was going along swimmingly on our vacation until Saturday/Christmas night when it was clear that I had caught the dreaded stomach virus. On Sunday morning I found out that Grandpa and Great Grandma Velda had also fallen prey so it was up to Nana and Daddy to take care of us and Emily while furiously running laundry and scrubbing the house to try to stop the spread. Sunday was a loooong, lonely, miserable day but Sunday night was worse! At ten o'clock I heard the unmistakable sounds that meant Emily too had caught the bug. Poor baby girl was covered and crying not having ANY idea what in the world had just happened to her. After a shower we pulled her over to our bed (I was glad to be able to be near her again since we had kept her away from me all day to try to avoid this very issue. Too little too late I guess.) where she continued to be violently sick every ten minutes for the next four hours.
(One hour in she had passed out and I thought that perhaps she would get a break but no such luck. I sat and watched her and just like clockwork I would see her start to stir every ten minutes and would wake Daddy to help get her to her knees until it passed again. It.was.a.nightmare.)
On Monday morning Emily seemed to be back to her old self and since Daddy was okay he went off to work while Emily played with Grandpa - who was finally ready to join the land of the living again.
I was very cautious with Emily's diet on Monday and she went through the day without incident but on Tuesday, since I was feeling better and she seemed to feel better (asking for food and drink like normal) I loosened the diet restrictions and she went back to normal food. Not such a great idea apparently. On Tuesday night and again on Wednesday, more than once, it was made perfectly clear that her little traumatized tummy was just not ready. Fortunately, she was able to spend some time with Great Grandma Velda before she got on a plane to go home on Tuesday...
but unfortunately, Nana and Daddy did end up getting sick on Wednesday. I hope we have all paid our dues now for a very, very long time!!
